I had big plans for Jackson's room when we first moved in. I originally wanted to paint the ceiling dark blue and put glow in the dark stars on it, but once we actually closed on the house and I realized just how much ceiling we were dealing with I had to adjust. I already had the color scheme figured out (grey, blue, orange) before we moved in and had already made curatins with some fabric I ordered online.
So fair warning...this is an image heavy post, but I'll do my best to describe what's going on and link whre I can :)

I had seen a ton of different idea's on how to make a desk in this space. Orginially I wanted it to be the full length of the wall, but since I was using recycled materials that didn't require cutting, this is as good as it got, but I like that the lego section is open for now.

I took two old metal file cabinets and spray painted them orange. I DO NOT recommend this. The cabinets were black and it just took forever. If I had to do it again I would prime and then maybe spray, but most likely use regular paint.
The desk is one of the doors to my old closet. I sanded it down and stained it with Rustoleum Kono Stain, and then poly'd it so it had a little shine. It's not perfect, but it does the trick.
To the left are some ikea hangy things that we had at the old house, and I had a bunch of chalkboard contact paper left over so we made a calendar.

So this is where I had to modify my nigh sky ceiling. We ended up just paining the wall where his bed is dark blue and then used glow in the dark stars. The moon we had from our old house, and the curatins I actaully made with the fabric from his old headboard. To the left is a print I got from Etsy that says "Dream Big Little One". And to the right are Eve and Wall-E, since that's like his all time favorite movie.

My level hanging skills are on point.

This was just a big, deep empty closet. And by empty I mean piled up with toys. I scored some "as is" shelfing from ikea (I think they were $3.00 for a 3 pack and hung them up. The bookshelves are from land of nod and while I love them, I'm still not 100% on the placement of them.

Wall-E & Eva stickers. I just wish they glowed in the dark too.

Lego display area-shelf on clearance at Target. Score!

So that's the big guy's room! It definitely took me a lot longer to get it done, and it is definnitely NOT this clean anymore.
Hope to be back soon with some more house updates and some back to school fun!!
:)
