and you are welcome for that!!
After we bought our house I was so excited to start making it out own, and changing a lot of the fixtures, especially the lights. There was actually a decent amount of electric work we needed done, and we are lucky to have a handy electrician friend, but I was determined to switch out the light fixtures in our house.
Okay, determined, but a little unsure. I mean, this is electricity we are talking about. I knew the basics, turn of the power (duh) but that was about it. I started googling around and came across a video of a girl in full make up and French tips changing out some boob lights (yes, that’s the technical term) and I was like. B!tch please, if she can, I can. So I did.
The first light I switched out was in Taylor’s room. We went form a big boob to a lovely little chandelier fit for any princess. It was a pretty straightforward switch and I was quite proud of myself.

Ready to tackle my next light switch, I wanted to take out the (you guessed it) boob light in our bedroom and hang the makra light that I’ve been loving ever since YHL (pour one out) posted the one they hang in their bedroom..
Power off-check

Take off old fixture-check

And that’s where things got messy…

this is what the wires looked like...
and this is what IKEA gave me..

And we all know how helpful IKEA instructions are. After a few texts with my Dad, and some serious googling about what to do when you don't know which is black and which is white, I figure it out (don't ask me now I don't remember.) If I didn't feel comfortable with what I was doing though, I'd just hold off and call in a professional.
Once I had the light actually working, the task of getting the darn thing to stay up was next. Seriously IKEA, not a fan of this one. You basically had to shove all the wire in the cup at the top, then pull on teh light until it was taught. Which it didn't get until like my 15,000 try. I still get worried that one day it's gonna fall on me..

I honestly think getting that thing flush took longer than figuring out the wires. But, it was all worth it in the end...

Because this is my view!!
I still have a few more lights to hang, so the party is not over yet!! Bathroom lights are next. Get excited!
